EMI

Electromagnetic Interference

What it actually means

Unwanted electromagnetic energy that degrades equipment performance — conducted along cables or radiated through space, from sources as varied as switching power supplies, transmitters, and lightning. EMI requirements bound both what a unit may emit and what it must survive; the fix is grounding, shielding, and filtering, in roughly that order of preference.
