Department of Defense Architecture Framework
What it actually means
The DoD's standard framework of architecture viewpoints — operational, system, capability, data, and others — for describing complex systems and systems-of-systems consistently. Programs are often required to deliver specific DoDAF views (OV-1, SV-1, etc.); the discipline is in keeping the views consistent with each other and with reality.
