Requirements Traceability Matrix
What it actually means
The matrix linking every requirement upward to its source, downward to design elements, and forward to its verification — so "why does this requirement exist?" and "how will we prove it?" always have answers. The verification-focused variant (RVTM) adds method, event, and status per requirement. Orphans and childless requirements found in the matrix are defects in the requirements set, not bookkeeping noise.
