FCA

Functional Configuration Audit

What it actually means

The audit verifying that a configuration item actually does what its specification says — that every requirement has been verified by the test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration the verification matrix promised. Together with the physical configuration audit it closes out development: FCA proves it works, PCA proves the documentation matches the hardware.

Where you'll meet it

End-of-development audit schedules, typically before or alongside the system verification review.
