System/Subsystem Specification
What it actually means
The top-level specification of a system or subsystem's requirements — the parent document from which software and hardware item specifications are derived in the classic MIL-STD-498 document tree. Its requirements allocate downward to SRSs and hardware specs, and the traceability between those levels is what the RTM audits.
