Configuration Management
What it actually means
The discipline of knowing exactly what your product is at any moment: identifying configuration items, baselining them, controlling changes through a defined process, and auditing that the built product matches its documentation. Unglamorous until the day two "identical" units behave differently and nobody can say why.
Where you'll meet it
Everywhere on a real program — CM plans, CCBs, baselines, and the audits (FCA/PCA) that check them.
